Don’t have a team but still want to compete? Email robert@ottawaoc.ca to be placed on a team.

Each team will share one SI card which will be handed to the next runner at the changeover.

You must use an SI card 6, 9, 10, 11 or SIAC. Older cards do not have enough capacity to store all the controls in the relay. If you don’t know which model you have, you can look up your SI number here.

There are no separate classes for age/sex, just one open class.

One person can run 2 or all 3 legs on a team, if they wish.

For any questions, contact robert@ottawaoc.ca.

Courses

Course setter: Robert Graham

The course will explore a mix of dense forest and open trails. Technical navigation awaits you at each control.

  • Legs 1 and 3: Advanced difficulty ~2.5 km and include forking
  • Leg 2: Intermediate difficulty ~1.5 km

All legs have a spectator control about halfway through so you can cheer on your teammates and get an estimate of when they’ll finish.

All legs cross the road and parking lot. We are anticipating low traffic but please be cautious.

There is a network of wide, grassy, ski trails further connected by small paths and indistinct trails. Sprinkled throughout the map you’ll find various man-made features: shacks and cabins, fire pits, disc golf baskets, etc. The land is fairly flat but not without some interesting rises and falls, keep in mind the 2.5 meter contour interval. The woods will be thick by the time of the race with wild roses and thistles reaching above the waist in some spots. Long pants with gaiters or socks is recommended. Courses have been designed to avoid the worst areas.
